Free tools, provided as is

The site's tools and guides are free. They are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We work hard to keep the tools correct and the site online, but we can't promise that every calculation, chart or page will be error-free or always available. We may change, add or remove features at any time.

Rules information is general guidance

Our guides summarize rules, field and goal sizes, game lengths, roster sizes and playing-time guidance from official sources such as the IFAB Laws of the Game and US Soccer's small-sided standards. This information is general guidance only:

  • Leagues, state associations, clubs and tournaments can set their own rules, and many do.
  • Rules change, often once a year. A page may not yet reflect a recent change.
  • Recommendations, such as roster sizes or the 50% playing-time guideline, are not always mandatory.

Always check your own league's rules, and follow the decisions of the referee and your league on game day. Nothing on the site is legal, medical or official rules advice.

Your coaching decisions

The planner, charts and lineup tools suggest plans. You decide who plays, when and where. You are responsible for player safety, including injuries, concussion protocols, heat and weather, and for following your league's playing-time and substitution rules. If a plan doesn't suit a player or a situation, change it.

No affiliation

SoccerSubstitution.com is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by FIFA, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the United States Soccer Federation (US Soccer), US Youth Soccer, the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), or any league or club. We use their names only to identify the sources of the information we summarize. All trademarks belong to their owners.

Your data and what you share

Team data you enter stays on your device (see our privacy policy). You are responsible for what you enter and for any plans, links or printouts you share. Before sharing players' names outside your team, make sure the families are comfortable with it; the planner's First names only option helps. Keep your own backups: clearing browser data deletes saved teams, and we cannot recover them.

Acceptable use

You're welcome to use the tools for your teams, print charts and lineup sheets for your players, club or league, and link to any page. Please don't:

  • use the site in a way that breaks the law or harms others,
  • try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site or its server,
  • scrape or copy large parts of the site, or republish our guides, diagrams or tables as your own,
  • frame the site or present it in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product, or
  • use share links or exports to spread content that is abusive or that shares children's information without permission.

Our content

The site's text, diagrams, design and code are owned by us or our licensors. Plans, charts and lineup sheets you make with the tools are yours to use for your teams. Short quotes with a link back to the page are fine.

Links and ads

The site links to official rule documents and other websites we don't control, and shows ads from third-party ad networks such as Adsterra. We're not responsible for the content, policies or practices of other sites or advertisers. An ad on our site is not an endorsement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on it. That includes game results, playing-time disputes, rule or eligibility issues, forfeits, lost data and injuries. Your only remedy if you're unhappy with the site is to stop using it. Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the new terms.
