How to use the lineup maker

  1. Pick a format and formation. The players jump into the standard spots for that shape.
  2. Add your players. Edit names and numbers in the list, or use Paste names to drop in a whole roster.
  3. Place and swap. Tap a player on the pitch, then tap a bench name or another player to swap them. Drag any token to adjust the shape. On a keyboard, select a token and use the arrow keys.
  4. Style it. Set your shirt and keeper colors, a title and subtitle, and show numbers, initials or positions.
  5. Share it. Save it as an image, print it, or copy a link. Plan subs sends this lineup to the substitution planner to build a fair rotation.

Your lineup is saved in this browser, so it's still there next time. Nothing is uploaded.

Prefer paper? Print a blank lineup sheet with the positions marked and lines to write names on. Hand one to your assistant coach or tape it to the bench clipboard.

Pick the sheet for the format your league plays: 4v4 for most U6–U8 teams, 7v7 for U9–U10, 9v9 for U11–U12 and 11v11 from U13. Some leagues use 5v5, 6v6 or 8v8 instead, so those are here too. Write each starter next to their position, then list your subs and when they go on in the space below. If you need a different shape, set it up in the lineup maker above and print that instead.

Tips for picking a youth lineup

  • Rotate starters every game, so the same players don't always start or always sit first.
  • Balance each line with a mix of confident and newer players instead of stacking one side.
  • In U9–U12, try players in different positions over the season. Our substitution planner has a "Rotate positions" option that does this fairly.
  • Make sure your keepers are comfortable, and switch keepers at halftime or quarter breaks so more kids get a turn.
